NLP Marin was founded in 1993 by Carl Buchheit and Bob Hoffmeyer. Carl and Bob began their first NLP Practitioner course in February 1994 with 23 students. They brought a wealth of experience to the venture. Together they had more than 50 years’ experience assisting people change, grow, and create a more satisfying and fulfilling experience of life.
In 2006, Bob retired from NLP Marin to pursue his passion in jewelry making. We are grateful for his many contributions. The NLP Marin trainings have continued to grow and evolve. For 29 years, we have continued our tradition of delivering the world’s finest NLP with Carl Buchheit leading the way and many fantastic teachers, teaching assistants, staff, and students joining us for the journey.

For over 40 years, Carl has practiced, taught, and extended the technology now known as Transformational NLP. Carl trains from the heart, backed with a brilliant intellect, insatiable curiosity, and unconventional humor. The result is a fun-filled learning experience where all aspects of the students and their lives are welcomed and included. He challenges his students to explore themselves, the world, and life in a way that respects and uplifts everyone.
Carl has been involved in NLP since the mid-1970s. He is certainly one of the finest practitioners of NLP in the world, and quite possibly the busiest.
At the beginning of his career, Carl trained with Leslie Cameron-Bandler, the co-developer of NLP who was acknowledged for having added heart to the newly evolving technology of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Carl’s main early influence was the mentoring of Jonathan Rice, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist who was the first to include the methods, techniques, and tools of NLP within a larger professional perspective. Carla Camou
Transformational NLP Trainer, Constellation Facilitator
Carla Camou has been involved in NLP for over 30 years. She has worked with hundreds of students and clients across the globe who are wanting personal change and/or wanting to facilitate change in the lives of others. At NLP Marin, Carla trains students and training assistants—creating a special space for accelerated and joyful learning.
The premise for Carla’s work is a deep respect for the individual’s experience, and a full embracing of the strength they already have, to generate new experience. The result is an elegant change that enriches the client’s precious journey called life—at work, at home, in relation to others, and in all matters of the heart.
Carla also works alongside Carl Buchheit in continually refining and evolving the body of work known as Transformational NLP. As a training designer, she has the profound ability to make skills that seem magical to most, accessible to the many. This is clearly exemplified in our signature training which Carla co-designed and co-teaches: Holographic NLP, Beyond Blame & Shame (BBS), and Beyond Guilt & Innocence (BGI).
For many years, Carla also learned from and worked with Jonathan Rice, PhD—a clinical psychologist who was the first to include the methods, techniques, and tools of NLP within a larger professional context. Jonathan Rice was also Carl Buchheit’s main teacher. As NLP Marin’s forefather, Jonathan laid the distinct foundations from which our brilliant body of work has evolved.

Meet The Office
Karilee Wirthlin
General Manager, Trainer, Transformational NLP Master Practitioner
Karilee Wirthlin is a certified Master Transformational NLP Practitioner and the general manager of NLP Marin. She oversees day-to-day operations and teaches courses in the practical application of the Transformational NLP skillset.
Karilee started her business, KL Consulting, Inc., 25 years ago as a high-tech marketing consultant. Her client list includes market leaders such as VMware (now Broadcom), Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Plantronics and Polycom (now Poly), NetApp, PeopleSoft (now Oracle), and NVIDIA. She began her career at Steve Jobs’ NeXT Computer, which laid the foundation for the current Apple product line.
Karilee underwent NLP Marin training in 2012, became a certified Master NLP Practitioner in 2013, and a certified Master Transformational NLP Practitioner in 2015. NLP is a methodology for personal development and communication, which Karilee has extensively studied and applied to her work as a consultant and business owner. Transformational NLP, a specific application of NLP, deeply informs her work, and she is committed to bringing it into the world as a skillset that can make a positive difference in people's lives.
Karilee’s current endeavor is Transformational NLP with Karilee (www.tnlpkarilee.com)—a private practice where she combines her Transformational NLP expertise with her background in consultancy and entrepreneurship. She works with solopreneurs, business owners, and executives to develop a “CEO Stance”—the inner alignment and organic self-confidence needed to create a successful business and satisfying life.
Karilee is a longtime member and former president of Women in Consulting. She graduated from Mills College in Oakland, California, with a degree in Computer Science. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, crossword puzzles, creative writing, family genealogy, scrapbooking, and spending time with her two nephews.
Jaimie Nguyen
Director of Enrollment, Transformational NLP Master Practitioner
As the Director of Enrollment, Jaimie leads with her own personal mission of promoting NLP Marin across the globe. In her role at NLP Main, she’s thrilled to engage with students and help them connect to the very same life-changing NLP education that has truly transformed her own life.
Jaimie is a certified Transformational Master NLP Practitioner with over 30 years of experience starting and running her own businesses in Marin County and Carmel. The first thing you notice about Jaimie is her remarkable genuineness, deep compassion and a desire to help people. Her motto is “I want to support people to live their best self.” Jaimie has worked with thousands of clients through the years with a lovely, natural ability to build trusted and lasting relationships wherever she goes.
Jaimie studied at the College of Marin, though her more impactful studies came through her greatest joys in life which are traveling the world and learning about different cultures. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling to far-away places, learning, growing and won’t say no to exciting adventure.
Rachel Jacobsen
Director of Operations, Master NLP Practitioner
Rachel is responsible for managing all of the operational duties of NLP Marin. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing all course materials, day to day office management, creating the course schedule, managing vendor relationships, and organizing staff meetings. She also orchestrates the on-boarding, training and management of the work trade team, filling in for the team as needed.
Rachel's prior experience revolves around corporate management, customer relations, and peer development. She holds a BA in Psychology and Applied Statistics from Sonoma State University and began her training at NLP Marin in 2004, becoming a certified Master NLP Practitioner in March of 2008. Rachel has many hobbies, but all of them include spending time with her family and loved ones, helping others, or the pursuit of knowledge.
